The recent storms that have plagued the U.S. states have brought much needed rain and snow to our depleting water reserves. An overwhelming surge of rain flooded metropolitan cities, while nearby mountains received snow at near record amounts. With the large influx of new snow, I instantly prepared myself for a season of snowboarding. Imagine… new snow, large bases, soft landing zones and chilly weather, how much better could it be? T
he snowboarding season is one that must be embraced as the weather changes as quickly as a politician’s mind on social issues. Gathering all the necessary items such as: a snowboard, boots, gloves, beanies and goggles brings back wistful days when I was child. I can remember loading the family truck, ensuring the chains and ice chest were securely fastened to my seat. We didn’t want to go into the mountains with no food or chains that would be a horrible thing. The drive up was always one I dreaded because the anticipation of waiting ate me up alive. I wish I could click my heals as Dorothy did in the Wizard of Oz, and poof…I’m on the mountain top, ready to shred my way down the double black diamond slope.
